Urban Decay's NAKED basics palette..

The Urban Decay NAKED basics palette..

So after reading countless reviews on the full urban decay range, I decided to buy one of the palettes..  Now the original naked palette itself is full of shimmery pretty shades that I like, but on a day to day basis wouldn't wear. So when purchasing my first ever palette I needed to be practical, so I opted for the basics, merely because there are 4 nude shades, and 2 darker ones..

As you can see on the photo, the 'venus' which is the first shade actually has a slightly shimmer to it. i I wouldn't say it's shimmer is as consistent as the other palettes, purely because of the lightness of it. But its a nice added shade, to the matte colours they've got going on in this palette. The shades are highly pigmented, so not a lot of layering is needed and theyre super soft with an easy application. Now I tend to go for the darker 'crave' shade, if I'm going out.. But the one I use the most daily is the next one down called 'faint', it looks dark in the picture, and in the palette but when applied it doesn't come out as dark as it looks! I tried to do a swatch of all the colours on my arm, which I will upload at the end of the review but honestly the first three colours (the lightest ones) wouldn't come out on my arm! So it's really a swatch of the last three..

The packaging:

The palette itself is around half the size of Urban Decays NAKED and NAKED 2 and I love its petite size as I can easily fit it into my makeup bag!
The mirror inside is great! If I've forgotten my usual mirror I actually use this one to apply my full
face of makeup! It's so clear, and great for close ups
The cover itself has a sort of rubbery soft feel, it's hard to describe but if you have any nars products it is similar to that but less rubbery, it's also very easy to clean.

What have Urban Decay said about their product?

"Naked Basics is more than just the long-awaited, multipurpose MATTE companion to Naked. It's the palette EVERY woman needs in her beauty arsenal. With six stripped-down, Nakedly neutral shadows, it has everything you need for the perfect neutral matte eye—including four totally new and
exclusive shades.

Use these shadows to contour, line and highlight to create the right amount of definition for any occasion. Or for the days when you're craving more color, pair them with your fiercest, boldest shadows. Richer than other mattes, the color goes on with a smooth, luxe finish (never chalky or powdery). There's even one demi-matte shade, Venus, which has the tiniest touch of satin—perfect for highlighting and adding dimension.

While this palette is small, we loaded it with full-size shadow pans, just like our other Naked palettes. Every shade features our Pigment Infusion System™, a vehicle for color that holds tightly to pigment and gives the formula its glide. The proprietary blend of ingredients allows color to weave itself through the Eyeshadow formula. What does all that mean? Insane color payout. Color that stays on your lids. Sparkle that doesn’t fall. And velvety, suede-like smoothness and blendability. "

Where can you buy this product?

If I can remember correctly, I bought this palette from lookfantastic, it was £20 which is considerably cheaper than the first two palettes which are £36 but hence the size!
I think you'll find it for £20 everywhere, including Debenhams but what's great about sites like...

is that the postage is free!!! and you can often find deals with both sites such as spend over £40 and get 15% off, so great if you're after a few things.

So do you like the naked basics? Would you recommend any similar products?
